🥣 Ingredients
- 1/2 cup dried seaweed (미역, miyeok)
- 200g beef (brisket or sliced stew meat)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (or more to taste)
- 8 cups water (or beef broth for richer flavor)
- Salt, to taste
Optional
- 1–2 cloves minced garlic
- Splash of fish sauce (for extra umami)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Soak the Seaweed
- Soak dried seaweed in cold water for 10–15 minutes until fully rehydrated.
- Drain, rinse, squeeze excess water, and cut into bite-sized pieces if needed.
2️⃣ Cook the Beef
- Heat sesame oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Add beef and stir-fry 2–3 minutes until browned.
- Add minced garlic if using and sauté together.
3️⃣ Add Seaweed
- Add soaked seaweed to the pot.
- Stir-fry 2–3 minutes so it absorbs beef flavor.
4️⃣ Add Water & Simmer
- Pour in water or beef broth.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer 20–30 minutes until flavors develop.
5️⃣ Season & Serve
- Season with soy sauce and salt to taste.
- Add a splash of fish sauce if desired.
- Serve hot with a bowl of steamed rice 🍚
